Shifted to office on Dec 8th.

Feels so much like home coming! Hoping so spend a productive and fun filled time here.
Something at IIIT pushes me to blog, . And sadly my blogging has gone pathetic since I have been out. Anyways.. lots have happened.. and will be posting all slowly. Hoping to post few sweet short posts at regular intervals now.

“bhirin”[bhee-rin] is a pahari thing we do on Lohri(Jan 13th). More specifically in Upper Shimla Area (Rohru etc) in Himachal.
The thing is, call someone, he answers it, and then say bhirin.
Example (How I win a bhirin on mom) -
Me : Mummiiii
Mom : Haan
Me : Bhirin

Its done early in the morning, and there is a competition on who does it first.
This is done on phone as well. Callee says hello, and caller says bhirin. It use to be more fun without caller id on phone. With caller id, the callee sometimes directly says bhirin.
Important rule - one has to take bath before he can do bhirin on others. So people take bath very early on this day.
On this day people greet each other with excitement and cheer, shouting bhirin. Very simple thing, but it rocks!

Within family its about catching up people on bed and doing bhirin on them, before they become conscious about it. I remember being woken up by mom/nanaji/mamaji etc at like 5am to do a bhirin on me. Then forced out of bed, to take bath, on a chilly morning. I rarely remember a Lohri at home without snow around. It used to be a fun filled day.

So today morning got calls from a few relatives, and called a few. Many didn’t accept my bhirin, guessing that I haven’t taken bath yet. true!
Searched net on bhirin and found nothing. Hence the post.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Its been my wallpaper for years now. Around 4 years.
Makes me wonder, how insanely boring a person can I be to stick to this stupid wallpaper for so long.

I remember keeping it for the purpose of decent background while using transparent konsole, keeping the text readable.

It is now even wallpapered on my phone, as theme named ifeelgood. And you can see the same on the blog, up there (not in feed u dickhead).

While I’m at wallpapers, let me go into my wallpaper memories.
In Btech 1st year I remember using wallpapers of Britney (a lot), and Kajol and Drew Barrymore. A few times I even heard objections from Cdr Raman and BSRao on my Britney wallpapers.
Then I kept Koudelka and Parasite Eve 2 wallpapers for a long period.
I also remember using a few of Quake, Linux, Tux, Matrix, KT, Osho wallpapers.

Finally upgraded wordpress to 2.3.1. It took only a while to restore my customizations.
Is there any nice captcha plugin for wp ?
Whats the follow comments on email plugin ? Does it have time frame as well, like follow comments for a week. Would prefer it that way.
