Indians, over-obsessed with sex?

Osho once gave an example… “You dont remember name of a person, whom you have met long time back. You might wont remember anything about him. But you will surely remember one thing about him. His/er sex. Why ?”
Coz we have given so much importance to sex. indirectly. through supression. So does the author sound to me. And the reason for the explosion in the sex market is its supression.
I dont really understand why is it such a big issue. Why we are living with such a psychology.[1] Why cant sex be just another thing in the world.
Free sex. “free” as in “free speech,” not as in “free beer.”

[1] I am also living with this psychology. Its really difficult to clean up the brain, with all that you have learnt all your life. I dont believe in it, but i live with it.
