No Computers Day
first “No Computers Day” @ IIIT @ Aug 11th ‘05 [4pm - 4am]
Dear students,To encourage cultural, sports and social activities, it was decided to have “no computers days”. Accordingly the first “no computers day” will be held on Thursday, 11th August.
All computers (other than servers) in the campus, whether located in hostels or academic area, are expected to be switched off starting from 4:30 pm of 11th August to 4:30 am of 12th August.
Use the time to engage in sports, cultural, and other events, or just plain social bonding!!
I am sure, some of you may find it difficult to refrain from using the computers for 12 hours. That would only go to show how much are we hooked to it. Let us be true to our resolution. I am sure all of us would enjoy the resulting freedom.
I remember staying in labs during many events, either for technical event / project or for playing games and even for just browing. And I am sure.. even if we had Aishvarya or Preity Zinta on stage… i would had stayed with the computer. And there were many people like me (not essencially computer freaks).. who made IIIT to call for ‘no computers day’.
So on the ‘no computers day’ we [i+tarun+vidit+sachin+parry] did some shopping[1], where kunal and rocky also came after a while. After shopping had dinner at Kesav Reddy Sweets. Went to Dixit+Chandu+Nitin+Gaurav’s home, and then to Rocky+Kunal+Maddy’s home. But noone has a kitchen yet. Eagerly waiting for a dinner party with self cooked food. I love cooking.
