Can SE be fun ?
posting after 4th Distinguish Lecture(in IIIT) on Can Programming be Fun? by Prof Watts S Humphrey. The inventer of CMM, PSP and TSP. Father of Software Engineering.
The Lecture was good, execpt for the end, when i got totally lost somewhere, didnot get any single word he said. He was actually going deeper into SE.
Well, ‘Programming IS fun’, always for me. And most of us will agree. But ‘Can SE be fun ?’
I was never able to appreciate SE, not even after listening to the father of SE. Okey its good to a little extent, but it should not become more important the actual programming. If you have to put 100x effort on programming, SE should only get 5x of efforts. I only believe in KISS principle of SE, rest everything is time killing. Extreme programming is also good. But its far away from the normal SE techniques.
‘SE can never be fun’.
