No to Reservation

Nothing irritates me more then inefficiency. And Reservations hosts inefficiency.

Reservation is harmful
Less capable candidate get an opportunity which if given to best candidate would have increased productivity of the system. The harm is double actually. First the less capable candidate is working at less efficiency, and second a better candidate is forced to work at another (bad) place where he cannot work at full efficiency.

Its time to end the reservation, not increase it
If reservations hasnt done any good in 55 years, then we should now understand that it doesnt actually help anyone. Increasing reservation can not be the solution. We need to think about alternate methods if we actually want to help anyone.

SC/ST/OBC is not the right criteria for choosing the needy
SC/ST/OBC doesnt exactly define the need of such a privilege. Its so obvious.

How many generations need reservations
After someone has got benefits from reservation why should his kids get it ? They would be at much better of than many general category kids. Identifying creamy layers doesnt work.

A cast can not be generalized by a few people
All people in general (aka non SC/ST/OBC) category are treated equally. There are needy people in general category also. The effect of reservations on them is manyfold.

Minority is not as objective as it sounds
If two minorities work together, the majority might become the minority. With only 25% of population falling in general category facing the reservation chaos, i doubt the definition of minority.

Reservation benefits only a few SC/ST/OBCs
Reservation benifits only a few already better SC/ST/OBCs who are able to give proper education to their kids. The people who are considered while making the laws are not fortunate enough to get benefits of reservation as they are not able to give quality education to their kids to compete with elite SC/ST/OBCs. The reservation is going to people who should face open competition.

SC/ST/OBC know that they don’t have any competition
Years of reservation system, and examples from society have made it clear to these privileged people that there is not big competition to them. So their expectations from themselves and their kids have decreased. This has harmed these groups more than it can benefit. The nation should try to stop building of such feelings in 75% of its population.

Long Term Effects
Had the deserved people worked for these 55 years in the country, the country would have been far more better than what it is, and that would had benefited all O/BCs equally, alongwith the nation.

Though most of my points talks about the problem with the reservation policy, I in no way want any modifications in the reservation policies to answer these problems. My call is for No Reservation. Alternate method to help the needy, like to give them free education should be adopted. Help them prepare for the competition but don’t kill the competition.

Its good that country has come together on the issue, and is strongly protesting against. But i don’t see any step back from what is already said. Why didnt Ambedkar ask for separate nation for god’s people. Kaash!

Pls don’t make me hate my nation.

I protest
I Sunil Mohan Ranta, hereby declare that i will not participate in any form of govt elections in India until reservation is completely abolished or a party comes up with strong agenda to do so.

Update : Jayachandra has digged Nehru’s stand on reservation. Its in perfect sync with my views. Salute you Mr Nehru.

    Great points.
Sunil Mohan’s words are of a mature thinker and it is belling for India to have such youths. Also i will appeal Sunil Mohan to think over not voting. I think we should ask all studnets to vote and All educational institutions shoudl have voting fascilities during coming elections. Also students want E-registration and E-voting ASAP so that all students sitting near and far can vote.
1.Why a wife needs reservation when his husband used reservation only last year to become a lecturer in a Govt university?
2.Why a family earning 10 laks a year needs reservation just because they have SC/BC certificate?

3.Why a person can use reservation more than 1 time in his life if he just needs an “opportunity” to come on the road of success.

    4. What will happen to the self respect and dignity of the person using reservation. How can such a person come out of inferiority complex in all his/her life when he used a wheel chair even when he was not a handicapped?

    5. Are not only few rich people using this reservation again and gain in their life. The real backward SC/BC are not even aware of such reservation?
I myself belong to SC but could not get a seat in reservation. I know out neighbor whose father was Class-I officer and his son was all educated in Convent schools in English medium and he got admission in professional college using reservation. My father being a peon in a Govt College was not more deserving SC candidate? Why these greedy so called SC people don’t let real backward people to get their turn. Former president K.R. Narayanan’s daughter secured her entry into the Indian Foreign Service via SC reservation. Shame on these cunning politicians.

    6. Why we say only SC/BC/OBC are backward. Is not whole of India living in villages backward. Did not whole of India suffered thousands years of slavery and lived a miserable life?

    7. Are we not encouraging castism in India. I remember when studying in college when nobody cares about others caste. Are we not reminding and labeling a caste on each Indian now?

    8. I heard that landlords (Yadavs etc.) and Millionaires (Jewellers ‘Suniare’ ) are also considered backward OBC. Is this not bullshit!

    9. Do we any doubt now that Politicians are the most dirty class of humanity who create conflicts, wars to remain in power. This reminds me of Osho who spoke very boldly decades ago calling people to get rid of politicians?

    10. Why should not Youth of the country continue their movement and be in power and hang all the politicians in public where we can have a country where nobody is called “backward” and everybody live with self respect, confident and dignity.
Youth should now create a new life style , get rid of different surnames, should live together in communes, eat together and live together in harmony with nature and God.

    11. Why should not we get rid of all religions and accept only one religion called “Meditation” so that religion now can become another science getting rid of all old belief and dogma systems and each person can lead toward enlightenment or Nirvana rather than dying as a sheep of so called organized religions.

    Reservation actually is………
Reservation actually is, that only upper caste people are permitted to enter into competitions. The story of Karna is an example, as a gesture of immense gratitude for permitting him to take part in a competition, he joined the forces of the king(who gave him such a permission), against his blood relations. Today we are continuing the same, competition being necessitated only for the upper caste people, others being given the fruits without competing.(coup the grace!)

Please read these comments to know how important it is to stop the reservations and get rid of the caste system.

“India is ready to discuss racism as long as it is in other countries, but not caste in its own backyard.”
    - Dipankar Gupta, professor of sociology , J.N.U. New Delhi

”In place of appealing for removal and abolishing this old curse on India, all the Indians have been shamelessly accepting the caste system imposed upon by their Religion. People are fighting against the reservation quota. Is there a single sensible person who wants to fight against the caste system which is the main reason for the quota ? ”
    - Damien Rebello

Caste conscious lunatics and live in this lunatic asylum, of course against our will, and ‘blessed’ with an eternal curse of associating with the insane. The Indian caste system is pointedly diabolical. It is a real curse.
    - Swami Vivekananda

Year 2006 : Indian newspapers carry daily stories of atrocities against Dalits or young couples being killed, sometimes by their own families, for daring to fall in love with someone from another caste. The caste based communities in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have militants to terminate people belonging to the other caste. In spite of all this the Indians think that they are making progress.
    - from DailyNews U.K.

Nobody is saying that the caste system should be praised, for it has indeed degenerated India’s self-pride.
    - Francois Gautier

Without question, caste system is the curse for India, and it has humiliated millions through the ages. Caste is India’s sorrow, the apartheid that makes Indians hang their heads in shame. Caste serves as the prime reason for conversions even today.
    - Barbara Crossette

So you see to what extent this disgraceful caste system has taken us? Our political parties trade on it, our governments use it, our police connive at it. There is a nexus of criminals, police and government, as everybody knows, and we suffer.
    - Shri Parthasarathi

India’s real curse lies in the fact that, 57 years after Independence, people continue not only to face daily injustices, but they can be murdered, raped and viciously humiliated merely because they have tried to break out of the caste trap to assert their rights as equal beings.
    - (Human Rights Report)

And the world laughs at us…

When you get ready to get your family members married to lower caste, may be people will not be very particular about reservations. You need to change before asking anyone else to change.

your reply completely reflects the mindset of peoples who are in favour of reservations. Firstly if you really feel that reservation is must then you discuss the topic openly. Secondaly marriage is total personal issue. Even if families are involved in marriage lot of uppercaste boys & girls are marrying lower caste for the very reason that they are high class officers. My dear anonymous it seems that you are from the class which wants the benefit also but does not want to disclose their real identity you yourself feel that reservation must not given to peoples like you who are already there in rich class because of getting benefits of reservation for last 50 years. We are fighting only for the purpose that reservations should not be given the the persons whose great grand fathers were IAS/IPS with the help of reservaions.
Today i am 40 years of age and I have my batchmates fighting against mandal commission. It has changed the complete thinking of the peoples like me. before 1988 we never used to think that who is yadav and who is mishra but now automatically it comes to the mind So do’nt you think that we must remove the creamy layer from allthe reservation facilities.

reservation is no gud!!? its th only way 4 th upliftment of lower caste ppl. if u hav 60 students in a class merely 10 would b of reserve category if tats too much 4 u then casteism shouldn’t hav started on 1st place. Who started it was also u wat so called ‘generals’.

  7. Jatin Verma Says:

Yes this caste system has indeed destroyed this country.
It’s time to legally remove it from existance.

  8. castist Says:

until there are no atrocities against dalits reservation should continue.

  10. Leena P Says:

The basic requisite for any competition is good spirit .. which the reservation system is killing.

The reservation system is as good as spoon feeding . How can a person think of becoming a good manager/doctor/engg taking admission in the best colleges on a reserved seat !!!!! By taking a reserved seat they show that they have caliber much less than others.

There are so many students I know who are very proud to say that they have got admission in one of the best colleges but dont mention that the seat which they got is reserved.

I would just like to say one thing .. if you have the gutts .. come and compete !!!

The number of general category ppl and sc/st/obc ppl who cannot afford basic education is alomost same,so the government should provide privileges(in the form of proper education, scholarships) to all those who cannot afford it irrespective of caste.

  11. Vikas Gupta Says:

First thing… you should participate in the voting process. We need more participation from the educated youth in this process.

Second is..I support the reservation in medical seats. Whats more, it should be made compulsory that all the politicians should get themselves and family members operated by these doctors only…

  12. Vikas Gupta Says:

talking of medical …we can have the civil engineers passing out should be the persons passing the structural designs the politicians.

Then only we will know that these politicians who are giving benefit to them also believe in the capabilities.

  13. Rajkumar Bhat Says:

We need to rid the caste system and discrimination of groups of people whether we are (Jatt, Khatri, Gujjar, Tarkhan, Ramgharia, etc. etc). Trust me, its not worth it to have bigotry and discrimination against one another, it moves us back and downward……….where as we want to be moving up and forward.

It’s a shame that India has been reduced to such low levels by pathetic politicians who are only interested in vote banks.Politicians like Arjun Singh ought to be ashamed of themselves. He is nothing but a piece of shit that we must flush away to avoid the contageous disease from spreading around. So now India is going to ‘SHINE’ in all levels thanks to all the numerous SC ST OBC’s who are undeservingly getting reservtion.HOw many of us would actually want to risk going to an SC ST OBC doctor who has come up through reservation?how many of us would trust our lives with them????How many of us would rather go to a general category doctor due to the fact that we can credit them more because they have come up with hard work and not with reservation???

  16. Manishankar Says:

Some like Yogendra Yadav believe the only way out is to also bring poor upper-caste and other such groups under the affirmative action umbrella.

Whatever the outcome, the debate illustrates the deep social divisions that still exist in modern-day India.

While the country is one of the world’s fastest growing economies, it has still to win the battle over some of its deep-rooted problems. So better DESTROY the CASTE.

  17. William A. Haviland Says:

Although India’s national constitution of 1950 sought to abolish cast discrimination and the practice of untouchability, the caste system remains deeply entrenched in Hindu culture and is still widespread throughout southern Asia, especially in rural India. In what has been called India’s “hidden apartheid”, entire villages in many Indian states remain completely segregated by caste. Representing about 15 percent of India’s population—or some 160 million people—the widely scatter Dalits endure near complete social isolation, humiliation, and discrimination based exclusively on their birth status. Even a Dalit’s shadow is believed to pollute the upper classes. They may not cross the line dividing their part of the village from that occupied by higher castes, drink water from public wells, or visit the same temples as the higher castes. Dalit children are still often made to sit in the back of classrooms.

Its time to get rid of the caste system itself.
